Ailsa Bay

Ailsa Bay Distillery is a lowland whisky distillery located in South Ayrshire, Scotland. The distillery is owned by William Grant & Sons.

Ailsa Bay Malt Whisky Distillery was built to cater for their malt whisky needs for their blended whiskies.

Ailsa Bay is situated in the lowlands on the banks of the River Clyde overlooking Ailsa Craig, Kintyre and Arran. Its eight distilleries, however, produce a wide range of styles. This flexibility is deliberate, as the distillery was built to replace 'Balvenie-style' malts for Grant's blend and to offer other flavour options. With this in mind, it is not surprising that the stills are the same shape as those at the Balvenie distillery.

Four different whisky characters are created: estery, nutty, fruity and heavily peated.
