Amarula Brand uses African ingredients that are hand-picked and handcrafted to create distinctive and unique flavors that go into liqueur production. The production takes place in South Africa.

There is only one place in the world where marula trees grow - on the sub-equatorial plains of Africa. And there is only one season when the Marula trees bear their exotic fruits - at the height of summer.
Marula fruits are the size of small plums, but they have an oval shape and ripen to a deep yellow color with a hard outer shell that surrounds the fibrous white pulp. Marula contains four times more vitamin C than the average orange and is a juicy fruit with a citrus hint and a creamy, nutty flavor.

Archaeological evidence of Marula fruit dates back to 10,000 years BC, with traces of Marula pits found in the ancient Pomongwe cave in Zimbabwe. The smooth light brown seed inside each Marula fruit protects the oil-rich kernels, which are a vital source of nutrition and have antioxidant and moisturizing properties.

Amarula is inspired by the generosity of the marula tree spirit. Just as the tree shares its carefree gift of joy with elephants and the community, they also honor this symbiotic ecosystem, from the soil to the hands and glass (and beyond).
