Chivas

The Chivas Brothers opened their groceries in 1801 in Aberdeen. The name was taken from the house of Schivas from the 17th century. It was a big house in Aberdeenshire.

Chivas Brothers sold luxury goods such as brandy, coffee and spices. They also began blending their own whiskey, which, in contrast to competing hard island whiskeys, was smooth and easy to drink.

The Chivas Brothers also supplied goods to Queen Victoria, and in 1843 they were granted the Royal Warrant. The 25-year-old Chivas Regal whiskey was also released, which was an excellent success in the USA. In 1949, Chivas Regal acquired Seagram's and focused its efforts on wide distribution.

In 1950, after the end of World War II and the lifting of the ban on the sale of alcohol, the brand underwent a revival in the American market. Chivas was an immediate success and became the preferred alcoholic beverage of well-known individuals such as Frank Sintara, who demanded Chivas Regal behind the scenes during their performances. Today, the Chivas Regal brand has become a colossus, with sales growing by more than 40% in recent years. To meet demand, Chivas obtained the Strathisla distillery, which produces one of the main ingredients of the mixture.
