Chlebovica Liquid Bread
Chlebovica is a distillate from selected rye bread. This worldwide unique spirit is the result of long months of intensive try to combine two traditional Slovak crafts, master bakers and the craft of distillate production.
The high content of carbohydrates in crispy bread is what made bakers and producers of distillates joined their forces and thus began to write the history of Chlebovica. Baking process of bread contains dextrins, which give the bread a soft caramel undertone. The bread ferments in a barrel for up to ten days at a controlled temperature and under special conditions. The distillation itself then takes place for a few hours, and the resulting distillate is left to sit for at least six months to stabilize and smoothen. It reminds of young whiskey before it is placed to mature in wooden barrels.
