Go ahead, come in. Welcome to the famous cognac house of Rémy Martin

A tour of this famous place is considered by many to be a journey to the heart of perfection. We will introduce the Rémy Martin cognac house, its tradition and look at why it is so unique. We'll also take a look at what a tour that combines exceptional cognacs looks like.

Rémy Martin is home to one of the leading cognac producers in France. Behind its history is a family of wine merchants who began writing it almost three hundred years ago. During that time, five generations have been driven by a single idea. Its aim was to capture the essence of cognac. Since 1724, the merchant family has been guided by a strong thirst for knowledge, which has built Rémy Martin on the skills developed in the heart of the Cognac region.

The family business that changed the world of cognac

In the beginning, there was a man called Rémy Martin. He was the first president of the eponymous company that changed the world of cognac forever. He spent a lifetime honing his craft with innovative thinking, stopping only just short of death at the age of 75. The leadership of the company passed from son to grandson and always remained in the family.

In 1870, Rémy Martin IV took over the company and focused on exporting cognac, mainly to China. In addition, he created the Rémy Martin logo so that everyone in the world could instantly recognise their family brand. Later, the house began using exclusive grapes from the Grande and Petite Champagne regions. It became famous as a blend of Fine Champagne, recognized for its precious quality.

An exceptional tour you won't forget

Today, people from all over the world can visit the place where this legendary cognac was born. The House of Rémy Martin will captivate you with its atmosphere, made up of copper stills, dim light and silence in the cellars where the cognac is aged in oak barrels hundreds of years old. Vineyards, history, the brand's vast heritage and great food await you.

The beauty of the historic site is complemented by a demonstration of old production techniques or the pleasure of the cognac tasting ritual. Rémy Martin has around 22 million litres of cognac maturing in barrels. This starts at 70 % alcohol, of which about 3 % is evaporated each year, up to a target of 40 %, at which point Rémy Martin cognac is still highly flammable. This is a demanding and very costly, long-lasting process that is characteristic of the brand.

The riches hidden in 100-year-old premises

The greatest jewel of the house of Rémy Martin is the Louis XIII cognac, stored separately in different barrels where it is aged for 40 to 100 years. It has a harmonious aroma, a full-bodied flavour and an amber colour. It is made according to a recipe dating back to 1874 and consists exclusively of the finest Grande Champagne blend. Louis XIII combines the best of what has made the Rémy Martin brand a part of history. That is why he is rightly regarded as the king of cognacs.

The dark-hued cellars, where the master gets the floor during the tour, also have their own special charm. He carries out seemingly ordinary tasks that are, however, the cornerstone of the life of the house of Rémy Martin. He must uphold tradition and ensure the impeccable quality of the cognac.

The whole tour of the house is tuned to leave you with an unforgettable feeling. You will be touched by the spirit of history and discover the strength of one of the oldest brands for which quality and tradition come first.
