Johnnie Walker

The brand was created by John "Johnnie" Walker. Walker started his spirits business by selling whiskey in his groceries in Ayrshire, Scotland.

His whiskeys were very popular and after his death in 1857, the company was inherited by his son, Alexander Walker. Alexander, with the help of his son Alexander Walker II, greatly increased her popularity.

The first blend - Walkers Old Highland - was created in 1865. A rectangular bottle was introduced in 1870. During the early twentieth century, Alexander Walker II and George Walker, Johnnie's grandson, established a system for naming whiskey after color. In 1908, the name Johnnie Walker was featured on bottles when CEO James Stevenson renamed the entire product line. The chodiac figure was also conceived around this time. Today, we know the following lines of Johnnie Walker whiskey: Scotland's best-selling Scottish blend, Red Label, Black Label, Swing, Green Label, Gold Label and Premium Blue Label.
