Krimskoye

Krimskoye is a sparkling wine brand with a rich history dating back to the late 18th century. The first sparkling wine in Crimea was produced in 1799 in small quantities for the Russian Tsar's court. It developed significantly thanks to Prince Lev Sergeyevich Golitsyn, who founded the New World winery in Sudak in 1878. Golitsyn was inspired by French methods of Champagne production and his wines won international acclaim, including the Grand Prix at the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris.

During the Soviet era, Krimskoye became synonymous with quality sparkling wine throughout the Eastern Bloc. Today, the Krimskoye brand is produced in Moldova, as products from the region have been subject to sanctions and export restrictions to the EU following the annexation of Crimea in 2014. Despite this, Krimskoye retains its reputation and is popular among sparkling wine lovers.

Krimskoye is produced using the traditional method of secondary fermentation in the bottle, similar to Champagne. Grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Aligoté are used for the whites, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Saperavi for the reds. This process ensures a delicate pearl and a complex flavour profile that has won favour with consumers around the world.
