Tullibardine

The Tullibardine distillery in its modern form was reopened in 1947, and two years later distillate flowed from its distilleries. This place was once a brewery in which beer was allegedly brewed for the coronation of King James IV. in 1488. The brewery was actually built in the 12th century, so it can be said that the Tullibardine distillery has an incredibly long history.

The distillery was named after the Tullibardine Moor, draws water from the Danny Burn Creek and is located southwest of Blackford. The area is known for the purity of its waters and the Highland Spring is used only locally. Queen Helena, the wife of King Magnus of Alba, drowned in a ford near a town called Blackford after falling from a horse.

Following the purchase of the distillery by Invergordon in 1971, the number of distilleries increased from two to four. Two decades later, Invergordon was bought by Whyte and Mackay, and a year later the distillery was shut down. In December 2003, half a year after the distillery was bought for £ 1.1 million, production resumed. A year later, a café and shop were opened in Tullibardine, which today has a capacity of 2.5 million liters per year.
