Aberlour A’Bunadh Batch 80 is an iconic single malt whisky from the Scottish Speyside region, whose name in Gaelic means “from the origin”. This philosophy is reflected in every detail – the whisky is bottled without chill filtration, without added colors, and at cask strength, just as it matured in the barrels.
For Batch 80, carefully selected Spanish oak sherry butts from Oloroso with a capacity of approximately 500 liters were used. These casks impart the whisky its typical character – rich creaminess, intense sherry notes, and a deep fruity-chocolate profile. Aberlour also uses cork stoppers during storage, allowing for better evaporation of heavier aromatic compounds, resulting in a smoother and more harmonious expression.
The aroma is intensely spicy, intertwined with sweet sherry, juicy oranges, and the scent of fresh pralines. The taste of the whisky is smooth and creamy, with pronounced notes of oranges, black cherries, and dried fruits, complemented by an elegant hint of ginger, dark chocolate, and spicy oak.
Each batch of Aberlour A’Bunadh whisky is bottled in limited batches, with individual batches potentially varying slightly in character. Also typical are bottles styled like old Scottish apothecary bottles, hand-sealed with wax, emphasizing the traditional character of this whisky.
