Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2025 is an exceptional Jamaican rum from the legendary Hampden Estate, released as the seventh edition of the limited Great House series, which pays tribute to the iconic villa at the heart of the distillery.
This vintage was created in collaboration with the Italian company Velier and bottled in 2025 at 57% ABV. It is a blend of several of Hampden’s signature marks – C<>H 2021, LFCH 2020, HLCF 2020, and HGML 2020 – ensuring a complex, layered, and distinctly Jamaican profile.
The rum is made from molasses using traditional pot still distillation with a double retort. Fermentation occurs naturally, without industrial yeast, relying on wild microorganisms and the classic dunder (residues from previous fermentations) that foster the creation of esters. Maturation takes place entirely in Jamaica’s tropical climate, which accelerates aging and deepens the flavor. The rum is unsweetened and uncolored, preserving its pure and authentic character.
On the nose, it reveals a rich ester-driven aroma, dominated by tropical fruits – fermented pineapple, banana, and mango – complemented by hints of vanilla, ginger, orange peel, and a delicate touch of varnish.
The palate is full-bodied and complex, showcasing pronounced fruitiness, spice, and notes of molasses and caramel. As it opens up, it evolves into deeper tones of oak, cinnamon, and herbs, with subtle hints of menthol and citrus peel. The finish is long, warm, and balanced, leaving a lingering sweetness of tropical fruit, wood, and esters.
This dark rum represents the pinnacle of Hampden Estate’s traditional craftsmanship – a perfect harmony of power, elegance, and authenticity.
