Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2025
Hampden Great House Distillery Edition 2025 is an exceptional Jamaican rum from the legendary Hampden Estate distillery, presented as the seventh edition of the limited Great House series, which pays tribute to the iconic villa right in the heart of the distillery.
This vintage was created in collaboration with the Italian company Velier and was bottled in 2025 with an alcohol content of 57%. It is a blend of several production marks typical of Hampden – specifically C<>H 2021, LFCH 2020, HLCF 2020, and HGML 2020 – ensuring a complex, layered, and typically Jamaican profile.
The rum is made from molasses using the traditional pot still method with a double retort, with fermentation occurring naturally, without the use of industrial yeasts. Classic dunder, or the remnants from previous fermentation, is also used to promote ester formation. Aging takes place exclusively in the tropical climate of Jamaica, which significantly accelerates maturation and deepens the flavor profile. The rum is neither sweetened nor colored, thus retaining its pure, authentic character.
The aroma immediately reveals a rich ester profile – dominated by tropical fruits, particularly fermented pineapple, banana, and mango, complemented by notes of vanilla, ginger, orange peel, and subtle varnish.
The taste is full and complex, with pronounced fruitiness, spice, a hint of molasses, and caramel. It gradually develops into deeper notes of oak, cinnamon, and herbs, with a light touch of menthol and citrus peel. The finish is long, warming, and balanced, with a lingering sweet aroma of tropical fruit, wood, and esters.
This dark rum represents the pinnacle of the traditional craft of Hampden distillery – combining strength, elegance, and authenticity in perfect harmony. Great House 2025 is intended for the connoisseur who appreciates the depth, balance, and character typical of Jamaican “pure single rum.” It is best enjoyed neat, in a tulip tasting glass at room temperature.
