Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve
Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve is a distinctive Japanese blended malt whisky, crafted by master blender Kimio Yonezawa at Kaikyō Distillery on the coast of Akashi. It is part of the prestigious core range that celebrates traditional whisky techniques with a unique Japanese twist and will become a permanent part of the portfolio from April 2025.
This whisky is a blend of carefully selected malt whiskies, which undergo a two-stage maturation process: first in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, followed by an additional six months of finishing in umeshu liqueur casks. This process is rare in the whisky world. The marine environment and oceanic climate along the coast shape the accelerated development of aroma and delicate minerality.
On the nose, elegant notes of spicy oak, black tea, and orange peel are complemented by dried apricots, vanilla, and subtle hints of roasted malted barley flour. The aromatic trail of the combination of ex-sherry cask and ume finish creates an unusual sweet-and-sour fruity depth.
The flavor profile is gently spicy with hints of oak, bitterness, dried citrus peel, and fruity depth from the ume finish. Additionally, there are sweet honey notes, syrup, a delicate pear tone along with peach and strawberry fruits and a hint of plums. The medium to long finish is smooth, balanced with a sweet-fruity conclusion.
Bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 46% with a volume of 0.7 l and are delivered in gift cartons.
