Octomore 16.3 is part of the iconic Octomore series, representing the most peaty whiskies in the world. The 16.3 edition is one of the most distinctive "single farm – single field" versions, as the barley used in its production comes exclusively from Octomore Farm on Islay, capturing the pure character of the island.
The whisky was distilled in 2017 and matured in a combination of American ex-bourbon casks and European oak casks, providing intense fruitiness, depth, and structure. The result is an extremely peaty yet complex and multilayered profile.
Bottled at 61.6% ABV, in its natural color and without chill-filtration, it offers the most authentic experience of Octomore.
On the nose, it brings deep notes of peat smoke, salty sea air, honeyed barley, white pepper, citrus peel, vanilla, almonds, and ripe fruit.
On the palate, the whisky is strong, intense, yet beautifully balanced – salty smoke, honeyed malt, lime, white grapes, nectarines, grilled fruit, white chocolate, and a subtle note of toasted wood. The peat is dense, earthy, and mineral, complemented by the fruity freshness typical of Islay Barley editions.
The finish is very long, warming, with a combination of ash, citrus, sweet smoke, grapevines, and gentle spice.
Octomore 16.3 represents the pure essence of Islay – extreme peat, saltiness, mineral strength, and terroir that are evident in every sip.
