Torabhaig Sound Of Sleat Batch Strength is an exceptional release from the Legacy Series of the Scottish distillery Torabhaig on the island of Skye.
This single malt is bottled at full cask strength 60.2% ABV, without coloring and without chill filtration.
The distillate is made from malt Concerto and Laureate, which was peated to ~78 PPM, fermented with Pinnacle MG+ yeast, and aged exclusively in American oak barrels (a combination of new, first-fill, and refill casks).
On the nose, there are notes of smoke, sea salt, sweet oak spice, hints of tobacco, orange, barley sugar, apricot and peat smoke.
The palate is robust and elegant, with traces of spicy oak, coal. A waxy texture, touches of vanilla, white pepper, and oriental smoke.
The finish is long, with a gentle spicy character, a pinch of pepper, marine atmosphere, and a pronounced island character.
This whisky is beautifully colored, with no added colors. It shines best neat, at room temperature, or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas.
