Bunnahabhain

The Bunnahabhain whiskey brand was founded in 1881 by brothers William and James Greenlees together with William Robertson. It was closed and reopened twice during the twentieth century, and eventually production was limited to just a few weeks a year. Today, Bunnahabhain produces more than 2.5 million liters a year.

The distillery was built near Bunnahabhain Bay on the northeast coast of the island of Islay. The main aim was to take advantage of the access to clean spring water from the Margadale Spring and the ideal location on the coast, which allowed for easy transport and export of their whisky. Since its inception, Bunnahabhain has focused on producing a smooth, unsmoked whiskey that is now known for its exceptional quality and character.

Bunnahabhain is known for its exceptionally pure and balanced taste. Its whiskeys have rich fruit and nut notes, often with hints of the salty sea air that comes from its location near the sea.

The Bunnahabhain portfolio includes a wide range of whiskies, from younger to very old and limited editions. Among the most famous are the Bunnahabhain 12-year-old, which is the foundation of the brand and offers a subtle combination of fruit, nuts and spices, and the Bunnahabhain 18-year-old, which is appreciated for its complex and deep notes of chocolate, dried fruit and wood.
