Clairin

Clairin is a brand name but also a type of alcohol. The Clairin brand produces an alcohol called Clairin, which is distilled and produced from sugar cane in Haiti, which undergoes the same distillation process as Agricole rhum. Local producers commonly refer to it as rum.

There are about 600 mini-distilleries in Haiti, which are produced by Clairin. These distilleries are usually small huts located in the countryside.

Clairin is made from domestic cane varieties that are unhybridized and without chemical interference. It is spontaneously fermented without artificially supplied yeast with the original distillation technique from the middle of the 18th century. Clairin is organic, without filtration and its production works on a 100% ecological basis.
