Holland Gin 1689 is crafted according to the original gin recipe from 1689, created by William III (also known as William of Orange) after he was proclaimed King of England, Ireland, and Scotland.
The recipe, which was found after two years of intensive searching by Alexander Janssens in a section of rare books at the British Library, contains only a list of the original ingredients (you can see below), but does not include quantities. The task of determining the new quantities was given to the Dutch distillery Herman Jansen, which has been operating since 1777. Together, they revived the recipe that conquered the British Isles in 1689.
Aroma and taste: juniper, anise, rich spices blended with a variety of citrus, nutmeg, clove, dried quince
