The distillery is located on the rugged north coast of Aberdeenshire, behind the beautiful surfing paradise of Sandend Bay in Scotland. It's where the land meets the sea. Where the senses awaken and the sweet air mixes with a pinch of sea salt. Where juicy waves of tropical fruit ride the ocean breeze. Until they rest in a place of perfect harmony.
Glenglassaugh Distillery was founded in 1874 by local entrepreneur James Moir and 18 years later became part of Highland Distillers. Its popularity was short-lived, however, as it closed in 1907 due to a market downturn and only reopened in 1960, when the market was again experiencing significant growth.
In 2013, the distillery changed hands again and became the third member of the BenRiach Distillery Co. Despite significant gaps in stock, whisky releases are cleverly balanced between very old bottlings and new product.
In 2016, Brown-Forman, maker of Jack Daniel's, bought Glenglassaugh along with Benriach and Glendronach. After a complete rebranding, Glenglassaugh returns with a new design and an attractive offer.
At Glenglassaugh, they are taking elements of their surroundings and combining them into an exceptional coastal single malt whisky. In each expression, you'll experience rippling waves of flavour shaped by land and sea.
