Hatozaki is a Japanese blended whisky produced at the Kaikyo Distillery. The symbol of Hatozaki whisky is the oldest lighthouse in Japan, which stands near the distillery and has been helping to navigate sailors through the stormy waters around Akashi port since 1620. The lighthouse symbolizes reliability, openness to the wider world, and trade that has enabled the exchange of goods and knowledge. This approach is also followed by the producer in the manufacturing process. The home distillery of the Hatozaki brand underwent innovation after its first 100 years of existence and in 2017 replaced its old distillation equipment with a modern copper twin-pot still from the renowned Scottish company Forsyth’s.
