Macallan A Night On Earth Jerez
Macallan A Night On Earth Jerez is the third installment in the series. In this edition we travel to the south of Spain, a place of great importance to The Macallan.
It is in Jerez that all the sherry casks are matured. Sherry here is aged in casks for 18 months. In Jerez de la Frontera, the brand owns large estates that contribute significantly to the exceptional taste of The Macallan whisky.
A Night on Earth Jerez is matured mainly in special sherry casks made from American and European oak, which greatly influence its flavour profile.
This exceptional whisky combines the taste of Spain with the unique atmosphere of New Year's Eve!
In Spain, New Year's Eve is intrinsically linked to vintage celebrations and the sound of church bells welcoming in the New Year. It is said that whoever manages to eat 12 grapes before the midnight bells ring out will be lucky in the New Year.
In Jerez, the traditional New Year's dessert is Pestiños, a type of rich fried dough sprinkled with sugar and aniseed or drizzled with honey. The taste of Macallan whisky was inspired by this dessert. You'll find layers of Pestiños with honey, sweet raisins, cinnamon, aniseed or hints of fresh rosemary.
A Night on Earth Jerez offers a unique three-layer experience in one luxurious box. Each layer was created by Jerez-born artist María Melero, capturing her fondest memories of New Year's Eve in her hometown in the south of Spain.
María Melero is an artist and illustrator, born in 1988 in Jerez, who has created commissioned works for a number of editorial and advertising brands. María has a colourful style with symbolic power that puts Andalusian culture centre stage. María's work allows you to get to know Andalusia with complete clarity. Literature, 19th century engravings and Andalusian folklore are her main sources of inspiration.
