Monkey 47 Dry Gin in gift box

An unusual gin from the Black Forest in Germany. Monkey 47 contains a unique ingredient. It's cranberries! Monkey 47 is created from a range of botanicals that go into this unique gin. Its name refers to the 47 hand-picked botanical ingredients that are used in its production, and the 47 % alcohol content.

The aroma of the gin is woody, we can smell the aroma of vegetables, an undertone of fresh lemongrass and a botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after a rain. The palate is complex, full of spices, fruits and herbs, the citrus flavours at the start giving way to notes of pine and dry wood.

The history of this gin dates back to the 1950s, when British air force commander Montgomery Collins, serving in Germany, created his own gin, which he called 'Max the Monkey - Black Forest Dry Gin'. The name was inspired by Max the monkey, which he adopted from the Berlin Zoo during its restoration, and the place of production - the Black Forest.
