Mortlach 14 Year Old Alexander's Way
Mortlach 14 Year Old is a single malt whisky distilled in Dufftown (Speyside region of Scotland). Single malt whisky means it is made from one type of malted barley and distilled at a single distillery. The whisky matured for 14 years in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon casks and was bottled at 43.4% alcohol by volume.
The Mortlach distillery was the first legal distillery in Dufftown, established in 1832. Since its inception, its whisky has been available only in very limited quantities, and a small number of bottles were produced even during World War II. Mortlach 14 Year Old also carries the alternative name "Alexander's Way." This pays tribute to one of the former owners of the distillery, Alexander Cowie, who was behind the special distillation process through 6 stills of various shapes, which are separated by pipes multiple times. As a result, this whisky is ultimately distilled 2.81 times. This distillation process was Alexander's passion and is now captured in this rarely seen single malt.
