Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old
Pronunciation: { Dal-vi-ni }Whisky Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old comes from Scotland's tallest distillery. This is a remarkably smooth whisky that has a long-lasting evolution of flavour.
It is also aromatic with a trace of heather honey that gives way to sweetness of cut grass and malt, and then intensifies to a sudden rush of peat.
Dalwhinnie whisky is made in Scotland's highest and coldest working distillery, using water from a loch at 2,000 metres, and so thrives in extreme conditions - producing a liquid as sweet and approachable as its home in the Highlands is remote.
No other distillery is allowed to use water from Lochan na Doire-uaine - a pool of pure water from melting snow and rainwater high in the Drumochter Hills.
Perhaps that's why Dalwhinnie is the only Scotch whisky from Highland to offer a combination of clean and approachable malty-malty flavours with a subtle and smoky warmth.
When the distillery was purpose-built in 1897, it was first called Strathspey. Perhaps in an effort to differentiate their already distinctive whisky, the owners soon changed the name to Dalwhinnie after production began in 1898. In Gaelic this means 'plain of meetings', a reference to the location at the junction of the old roads between the two mountain ranges.
The whisky is the perfect gift for whisky lovers looking for a smooth, delicious single malt whisky. The bottles are bottled at 43 % ABV with a 0,7 l capacity and come in gift cartons.
