Whisky Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old comes from the highest distillery in Scotland. It is a remarkably smooth whisky with a long-lasting flavor development.
At the same time, it is aromatic with a hint of heather honey, which gives way to the sweetness of cut grass and malt and then intensifies into a sudden rush of peat.
Dalwhinnie whisky is produced in the highest and coldest working distillery in Scotland, which uses water from a lake at an altitude of 2,000 meters, thriving in extreme conditions - resulting in a sweet and approachable liquid, just like its home in the Highlands.
No other distillery is allowed to use water from Lochan na Doire-uaine - a source of pure water from melting snow and rainwater high in the Drumochter Hills.
Perhaps that is why Dalwhinnie is the only Highland Scotch whisky that offers a combination of pure and approachable malt-sweet flavor with a gentle and smoky warmth.
When the distillery was purpose-built in 1897, it was initially called Strathspey. Perhaps in an effort to distinguish its already distinctive whisky, the owners soon changed the name to Dalwhinnie after production began in 1898. In Gaelic, it means “meeting place,” referring to its location at the crossroads of ancient roads between two mountain ranges.
