From the Old Monk range , produced by the Indian company Mohan Meakin, comes The Legend, a well-aged blended rum in a bottle said to be shaped like the head of H.G. Meakin, the company's founder.
Old Monk The Legend is aged in oak casks for at least 7 years, although it has no officially recognised age. It is the same dark copper colour as the other Old Monk rums. The aroma is also similar, with cinnamon and cloves, but The Legend also has oak wood, orange peel, banana and caramel.
The palate is a little more subtle than Old Monk's 7 year old, with a lovely mouthfeel of dried apricots, figs and black Orange Pekoe tea. The rum is in many ways the best of the Old Monk line.
We recommend serving it on its own with an ice cube or in a variety of mixed drinks. The bottles are filled with 42,8 % alcohol.
