Signal Hill

The place where whiskey is bottled represents a set of great historical moments that are the spirit of connection. On December 12, 1901, Signal Hill received Guglielmo Marconi's first recorded transatlantic wireless transmission. He set up his receiving apparatus in an abandoned hospital located on a cliff facing Europe at the top of Signal Hill, hoping to receive a signal from his Poldhu wireless station in Cornwall, UK.

Marconi listened through his telephone headset to a series of three "bips" - the Morse code for the letter S. Here he made history and proved that long-distance communication was possible. Look for Morse code on our bottle. A flight with a signal It was from St. John's, Newfoundland, that the first non-stop transatlantic flight with airmail departed.

On June 14, 1919, British aviators Alcock and Brown boarded a Vickers aircraft, took off from Lester's Field and landed in Galway the very next day. During the journey, the electric heating of their spacesuits failed, the pilots were forced to endure cold temperatures in an open cockpit.

As a means of warming them up they were given coffee flavoured with what else but whisky! Signals of the Past Vinland, you may know it as Newfoundland, was the site of the first landing of Northerners in Canada. 1,000 years ago, Leif Erikson and his Viking crew set foot on Canadian shores, bringing Norse mythology with them.

Their culture has been preserved through the symbol of the valknut - the symbol of their Viking god Odin and the kingdom of Valhalla where he ruled.

The logo is inspired by this ancient Nordic symbol. The three interconnected triangles have great significance and are often associated with different triads. It connects the three most important parts of whisky: the grains, the water and the casks. Signal Hill lies at the heart of the trinity, which will forever stand as a symbol of the human spirit's longing for connection.
