Glen Scotia 12 Year Old is an elegant single malt whisky from the historic region of Campbeltown, once referred to as the “whisky capital.”
This expression stands out for its complexity, harmonious balance between marine character, fruitiness, and gentle spice – typical traits of this iconic Scottish region.
It is distilled at the Glen Scotia distillery, which was founded in 1832 and remains one of the last active distilleries in Campbeltown. The whisky ages for 12 years in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, which impart depth, sweetness, and subtle spicy notes.
Bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration or coloring.
The nose reveals vanilla, honey, citrus, green apples, tropical fruit, and a sea breeze, complemented by a delicate hint of caramel and oak spice. The palate is rich and balanced – with notes of honey, pears, vanilla, nutmeg, and gentle maritime salinity. The finish is longer and drier; it lingers with notes of oak, sea salt, caramel, cinnamon, nutmeg, and black pepper.
This 12-year-old Glen Scotia is a great representation of the Campbeltown style – combining mineral and salty character with gentle fruitiness and subtle oak spiciness. Best enjoyed neat at room temperature, or with a splash of water to fully develop its aromas.
