Glen Scotia 7 Year Old Festival Release 2026
Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
Glen Scotia 7 Year Old Festival Release 2026 is a special edition created for the Campbeltown Malts Festival. This series celebrates the unique character of the Campbeltown region – one of the historically most significant areas of Scotch whisky production. The Glen Scotia distillery, established in 1832, is one of the last representatives of traditional production in this region and is known for its distinctive “maritime” character.
The whisky first matured in first fill bourbon casks, which imparted a gentle vanilla sweetness and creamy character. It then underwent approximately 6 months of maturation in Ruby Port wine casks, adding a pronounced fruity layer and spicy depth. The result is a complex profile with notes of:
• peat smoke (medium peated)
• blackcurrants and dark cherries
• mandarin and red fruits
• creamy fudge and vanilla
• gentle saltiness and a long smoky finish
The port maturation beautifully complements Glen Scotia's typical coastal saltiness, creating a harmonious combination of sweetness, fruit, and smoke.
This 7-year-old single malt is bottled at batch strength, preserving its full character and intensity of flavors. The whisky is also: non-chill filtered and natural colour. This ensures it retains the authentic expression of the distillery and the region. Festival Release 2026 embodies the philosophy of “Big Campbeltown Character” – a blend of smoke, maritime saltiness, sweet notes, and robust structure. On the palate, it is full yet elegant, with a long, warming finish where fruit intertwines with smoky notes. This is a limited edition that will delight collectors and lovers of more pronounced, medium-peated whiskies. It is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to further open its aromatic profile.
