Brugal

Brugal is a brand of various rums from the Dominican Republic, produced by Brugal & Co. Brugal and other Dominican rums - Barceló and Bermúdez - are collectively referred to as the three deuces. The company has three distilleries, one in Puerto Plata and two in San Pedro de Macorís. Brugal is the third largest producer of rum in the world.

In 2008, the Scottish company Edrinkton Group acquired control of Brugal & Co. Representatives of the Brugal family assured the public that the production of the national drink would nevertheless continue in the Dominican Republic and that the family would continue to be a shareholder of the distillery with an active role in managing the company and oversee the maintenance of brand quality. The Scots allegedly paid more than £ 200 million to the family for a 60 per cent share (some sources say 83%).
