Canadian Club

The Canadian Club brand has a rich history dating back to 1858. Its founder, Hiram Walker, was an American entrepreneur who established his distillery in Walkerville, Ontario, on the Canadian side of the Detroit River. This strategic move allowed him to avoid the high American tax and legislative restrictions associated with the production of alcohol.

The whisky was originally known as 'Club Whisky' because of its popularity in upscale gentlemen's clubs across the United States and Canada. In 1880, its name was changed to "Canadian Club," to clearly emphasize its origins and distinguish it from the competition. This change also reinforced Canadian whisky's reputation around the world.

Hiram Walker was a pioneer in whiskey production, using innovative methods such as long-term maturation in oak barrels and blending different spirits to achieve a smooth and consistent taste. Today, Canadian Club is synonymous with quality and elegance, and remains one of the most recognizable Canadian whisky brands in the world.
