Writers Tears Mizunara Japanese Cask Finish
A blend of single malt and single pot still whiskeys, this Writers Tears Mizunara Japanese Cask Finish Irish Whiskey from Walsh Whiskey was finished in Japanese oak casks. This is a limited edition.
Mizunara oak is a rare and expensive cask variety that is notoriously difficult to process. The oak has a high moisture content and is prone to leakage. Despite this, it can impart remarkable flavours to whisky, as this drink proves. The whiskey was eventually matured for 9 months after being previously matured in ex-bourbon casks.
In the bottle, classic Irish notes of caramel, grassy malt and vanilla emerge, along with rich Mizunara characteristics such as sandalwood, coconut and fragrant smoke.
A truly fascinating whiskey, it has been bottled at 55 % ABV in 0,7 l bottles. They come in gift boxes.
