Bruichladdich Octomore 14.2 128.9ppm
Octomore 14.2 from the distillery Bruichladdich uses the same variety of barley and is malted to the same PPM concentration as 14.1, but the whisky significantly differs due to the influence of wine and sherry casks on the 14.2 distillate.
The master distiller Adam Hannett, who has over 200 different types of casks in the warehouses, selected casks that previously held Oloroso and Amarone - the pronounced sweetness and nuttiness of this combination creates an exceptional single malt whisky.
Distillates from the renowned wine regions of Spain and Italy were then combined in a French oak cask, which added exceptional depth and complexity to the single malt.
The pronounced smoke characteristic of Octomore pairs well with Oloroso sherry casks, while the influence of the wood imparts a distinct, spicy flavor to the resulting distillate.
The oak from the Amarone casks also has a significant impact on the distillate, adding rich notes of red fruit - thus providing 14.2 with structure and coherence.
Bottles are filled at an alcohol content of 57.7%.
