The thirteenth Kilchoman 100 % Islay Edition is the first release since 2019 where Anthony Wills (the company's founder) has chosen to age exclusively in bourbon barrels. These were predominantly fresh casks, and as a result the whisky has beautiful layers of buttery vanilla and caramel flavours that combine beautifully with the citrus sweetness of the spirit.
The 100% Islay was distilled from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 barley harvests and then matured for a minimum of 8 years in 44 ex-bourbon casks.
This is a limited edition, only 13 000 were bottled! The alcohol content is 50 % and the whisky is slightly peaty. The aroma and flavour continue to show distinct layers of vanilla, caramel and citrus sweetness.
The bottles come in gorgeous gift boxes. We recommend serving alone at room temperature or with an ice cube.
The 14th edition of 100 % Islay whisky from the Kilchoman distillery. Barely harvested in 2013 and 2014, it was distilled and matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Delicately smoky from the Islay farm distillery.
When Kilchoman opened in 2005, it was the first new distillery on the Scottish island of Islay for 124 years. At Kilchoman, there is quite a lot of emphasis on regionality and craftsmanship.
The barley used in production is partly grown close to the distillery and dried on the distillery's own malting floors. Single malt whiskies from this distillery are enjoyed by smoky whisky fans around the world, which means Kilchoman is steadily expanding.
Kilchoman 100 % Islay 14th Edition 2024 matured for 9 years. It is bottled at 50 % ABV, with no colouring and no chill filtration.
