Rum played a key role in history, serving as currency as early as 1790. Like tobacco, rum was a valuable commodity, easily stored and transported in barrels. Unlike sugar, rum gained in value with age, which inspired the brand's name in honor of the old currency "colones" in El Salvador. Although this salary was replaced by the US dollar after 2001, the old coins and notes remained collectors' items. A significant moment was also the year 2021, when El Salvador became the first country to recognize Bitcoin as legal tender.
