Bunnahabhain 17 Year Old Moine Triple Cask is a whisky from the Distillery Exclusive series, released for the Fèis Ìle festival. It is a truly exceptional edition that combines creativity, craftsmanship, and the character of peated Moine distillation from the Bunnahabhain distillery.
This whisky was created by blending three peated distillates, each aged in a different type of cask: Oloroso Sherry Finish, Bourbon Matured, and Rum Finish. The result is a complex and layered flavor profile reminiscent of rum and raisin ice cream – a favorite dessert of the distillery's head blender Julieann Fernandez.
The aroma unfolds with fragrant smoke complemented by notes of violet flowers, grilled pineapple, salted raisins, and fresh vanilla pods. It is a distinctly aromatic whisky that combines peat with an unusually gentle sweetness.
The palate offers wavy smoke notes intertwined with double cream, raisins, caramelized sugar, ripe bananas, and a hint of tropical fruit. The finish is rich and dessert-like, with notes of smoky panna cotta that linger on the palate.
