Add a tasting glass and elevate your experience to the next level!
Bunnahabhain Manzanilla Cask 1998 is a limited single malt whisky created to celebrate the Fèis Ìle 2023 festival. This exceptional edition was finished in Manzanilla sherry casks to create a whisky with a unique balance of coastal salinity, spice, and elegance.
Unlike many distilleries on Islay, Bunnahabhain is iconic for its unpeated single malt whisky. The distillery is located on the remote coast of Sound of Islay, where the sea air and salty environment significantly shape the character of the spirit.
The aroma reveals notes of freshly baked bread, sweet almonds, rose petals, grapefruit, and dried spices, complemented by a hint of mahogany and incense.
The palate delivers a pronounced coastal influence of seaweed and fresh sea air, intertwined with raisins, dates, creamy chocolate coating, waxy red apples, and warm sweet spices reminiscent of star anise.
The finish is spicy and aromatic, with notes of caramelized walnuts. The star anise gradually recedes, revealing lemon zest, pear, and a lingering touch of sea salt.
The whisky is non-chill filtered and without added colorings. Thanks to the high pear-shaped stills with long swan necks, the distillate has a lighter, smoother, and oily character, which perfectly handles full maturation in sherry casks and bottling at higher strength.
