Botran Añejo 12 is an anejo rum from Guatemala. It is aged in the solera system and combines notes of sweet vanilla, caramel and oranges, with nuts on the finish.
The story of this rum began with five brothers who love rum. They undertook one eye-opening journey, from sunny Spain to beautiful Guatemala. And in 1940, they founded Botran. A rum with a distinctive approach.
A rum as lively as sugar cane juice and as colourful as the country it comes from. This helped rum become the world's first sustainable rum.
The producers grow, ferment and distil the cane in the green fields of Retalhuleu.
They then age the rums in the mountains of Quetzaltenango in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry white oak barrels, ideal conditions for the unique dynamic maturation system to shine through.
Finally, they bottle the rums in Mixco, near Guatemala City, creating a rum that is a true Guatemalan product.
At 2 300 m above sea level, life is different. The rums are aged at Casa Botran in the Quetzaltenango highlands at an average temperature of 14 °C.
The bottles are filled at 0,7 l with an alcohol content of 40 % and are supplied in gift boxes.
