Four Roses
Four Roses is a bourbon made from traditional ingredients in the heart of the American state of Kentucky, in the city of Lawrenceburg, which is known for its rich tradition of bourbon production. Four Roses has a long history dating back to 1888 and is one of the most respected bourbon brands in the world.
Four Roses uses two different blends to produce its bourbons. One blend contains a higher proportion of corn, which gives the bourbon a sweeter and smoother flavour, while the other blend contains more rye, which contributes to the spicy and savoury flavour. The corn mixture is then mixed with lime water and yeast to start the fermentation, which converts the sugars into alcohol.
The fermented mixture is distilled in column stills, which allows the alcohol to be separated from the other components and a higher purity to be achieved. The alcoholic strength at bottling is 40 %.
Four Roses bourbon is bottled in new American oak barrels in which it is aged. Bourbon is aged for an average of at least 5 to 7 years.
