Excellent whiskey from a distillery, founded in 1810 on the island of Jura off the west coast of Scotland. The community of about 200 islanders here has one way, one pub and one distillery and produces a unique single malt whiskey. 12-year-old Elixir matures in white oak barrels after sherry. Its aroma is fruity and sweet, with tones of tobacco, prunes, pineapple and crushed almonds, with hints of cinnamon and citrus on the edge. Only an expert will reveal the smell of wood. The taste is sweet, and spicy - smell dried fruits, spices, oak, nuts, but especially sherry, smoke minimal.
Surrounded by legends
In the hills behind the Distillery Jura, in the timeless beauty of heather, yew and ferns, lies a peaceful lake and an old well. They are a source of water for the distillery, also part of one of the sweetest legends on the island. Thanks to this water, some Diurachs (Gaelic term for the people of the Isle of Jura) are said to have been able to control the aging process. In the hills above the lake, a man is said to have lived 190 years! There are more similar legends on the island and the locals like to tell them to tourists. They live here peacefully, as if alone in their own world. And anyone who tastes the local excellent whiskey will be happy to testify that the heart Diurachs really masterfully control the aging process, so the aging of their single malt whiskeys will definitely.
