Rum Abuelo Anejo is produced by Varela Hermanos SA in Panama, Central America. This company has a history dating back to 1908, when Don José Varela Blanco launched his first sugar factory. In 1935, he started distilling sugar cane juice to make liqueurs. Today, the company produces an impressive range of products, which includes a large amount of liqueurs and, of course, a wide range of rum.
Aroma : The initial aroma is sharp and bears tones of fresh fruit and berries. As the rum decantes in the glass, tones of vanilla and caramel come to the surface. Later, cinnamon accents come to the fore.
Taste : like the aroma, the initial taste is quite sharp. Vanilla, caramel and citrus peel gradually give way to the firm fruity taste of cherries and berries. It is these fruity accents that resemble the taste of bourbon in which rum has matured. Rum also contains the well-known strong flavors of brown sugar, spicy cinnamon and maybe even a little tobacco and leather.
