Angostura 1919 Deluxe Aged Blend is a golden blend from the Angostura rum family in Trinidad and Tobago, aged for at least 8 years in American oak barrels previously used for bourbon. Its name refers to the only barrel to survive a devastating fire in 1932 – a barrel of rum created in 1919 that inspired the now legendary blend of the Angostura distillery.
The rum is made by blending eight different rums distilled from molasses in continuous column distillation systems and aged for at least 8-14 years in charred ex-bourbon barrels, giving it its characteristic golden to amber color with warm copper highlights.
The aroma is rich and complex, with a pleasant spicy and woody bouquet on the nose, with hints of cocoa, vanilla, coconut, and roasted nuts, intertwined with notes of caramel, molasses, ginger, tropical fruit, and lemon zest.
On the palate, the rum is medium-bodied, smooth and dry, with notes of caramel, creamy vanilla, exotic spices, molasses and a delicate dried sweetness. The taste also reveals hints of tropical fruit, chestnuts and roasted nuts.
The finish is long and elegant – smooth, with a spicy and chocolate-nutty finish and a subtle hint of citrus.
