Angostura 1919 Deluxe Aged Blend is a golden blend from the Angostura rum family in Trinidad and Tobago, with a minimum of 8 years aging in American oak bourbon barrels. Its name refers to the only barrel that survived a devastating fire in 1932 – a barrel of rum created in 1919, which inspired the now legendary blend of the Angostura distillery.
The rum is created by blending eight different rums distilled from molasses in continuous column distillation systems and aged for a minimum of 8–14 years in charred ex-bourbon barrels, giving it a characteristic golden to amber color with warm copper highlights.
The aroma is rich and complex – initially presenting a pleasant spicy and woody bouquet with hints of cocoa, vanilla, coconut, and roasted nuts, intertwined with notes of caramel, molasses, ginger, tropical fruit, and lemon zest.
On the palate, the rum is medium-bodied, smooth, and dry – revealing notes of caramel, creamy vanilla, exotic spices, molasses and a subtle dried sweetness. Flavors of tropical fruit, chestnuts, and roasted nuts also emerge.
The finish is long and elegant – smooth, with a spicy and chocolate-nutty conclusion and a gentle citrus touch.
