The name Hampden Estate Pagos, which comes from the Spanish word used to describe the vineyard plots in the Jerez area, is a reference to the distillery's practice of aging exclusively in ex-sherry casks.
Like the world's most aromatic whiskies, such as those produced on the island of Islay, the Jamaican rum perfectly embraces the notes of the Andalusian wine without overpowering them, resulting in an entirely new profile of aromas.
It's a perfect bottle that will appeal to both rum enthusiasts and fans of single malts from sherry casks.
This particular batch is part of a limited edition that celebrates the unique fusion of traditional Jamaican techniques and innovative approaches to the aging process.
The rum was distilled in 2010 and then aged for 11 years in Jamaica's tropical climate, contributing to its complex profile. After this period, it was shipped to Spain where it was aged for a further 2,5 years in Palo Cortado sherry casks. This combination of maturation gives the rum a unique depth and complexity, combining traditional Jamaican esters with rich sherry notes.
The result is a high ester rum that offers a rich palette of flavours and aromas. Its limited availability and unique aging process make this rum a true gem for connoisseurs and collectors.
