The exclusive and extra old Planteray PXXO 20th Anniversary rum pays tribute to the rich tradition of rum production in Barbados.
The rum is first aged in American white oak and ex-bourbon barrels in the tropical climate of Barbados, then moved to France where it is aged in ex-Ferrand barrels, and finally finished in Pedro Ximénez barrels from Andalusia. This last step adds subtle notes of dried fruits and nuts to the rum , enriching its flavour profile.
Planteray Rum's founder and head blender, Alexandre Gabriel, explains: "Planteray XO 20th Anniversary is a favorite around the world, and our decision to enrich it with Pedro Ximénez barrels celebrates a centuries-old technique that enhances the rum's profile with unique, complementary flavors."
On the tongue, the rum is rich and velvety with notes of coconut, chocolate, custard and subtle hints of coffee, grape juice, lemon, plum, almond, cherry, ginger and various spices.
