The Ileach Cask Strength
A great single malt whisky from Islay from an unnamed distillery. The Ileach Cask Strength always gets good reviews from critics, an edition with this cask strength scored a whopping 97 points from Jim Murray in his Whisky Bible. He describes it simply as the whisky of the year.
The base for the production is malt and peat, giving the whisky smoky notes. It is matured in oak casks. The nose is characterised by young peat, herbal and oak notes, as well as a slight saltiness. The palate is smooth - malty and peaty with hints of spice, fruit and iodine.
The rough waters of the Atlantic Ocean have shaped not only the character of Islay's inhabitants for centuries, but also the character of their famous whisky.
In many ways, this malt whisky reflects the character of the Islay people - it is both strong and smooth, warm and mellow, yet mature beyond its years. Robust peaty, with an unmistakable whiff of the seashore, The Ileach is 'a true Islay man'.
The bottles are bottled at 58 % ABV with a 0,7 l capacity and come in gift cartons.
