Bruichladdich Octomore 15.3 307.2ppm
With a peated strength of 307.2 PPM, Octomore 15.3 joins Bruichladdich 's renowned Octomore series , which is known for extremely heavily peated single malt whiskies.
The 15.3 is the second most smoky whisky in the series after the Masterclass. The bottle is distilled from 100 % Islay barley sourced from the Octomore farm just 2 miles away.
It was matured in American oak and ex-Sherry Oloroso casks.
This provenance gives 15.3. an impressive complexity and strong character. The slow distillation, lack of chill filtration and absence of colouring highlight the influences of the sea breeze and the sweet barley malt of the island.
The aroma of 15.3 is characterised by smoke, ripe fruit and constantly changing aspects of flavour.
The whisky is complex, robust and full of character. The menacing smoke is balanced by ripe fruit from the patient distillation, showing incomparable flavour and provenance. Native Islay barley, kissed by salty seawater, not only adds a malty sweetness to the spirit, but also evokes a real sense of place.
Bottles are bottled at 61,3 % alcohol.
