Chateau Selestany Dunaj Rosé 2023
Chateau Selešťany Dunaj Rosé is a Slovak still rosé wine, dry. The wine with a protected designation of origin comes from the Central Slovak wine-growing region, the village of Záhorce, 2023.
The variety was bred at the Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking in Bratislava by an important and recognized Slovak breeder of wine varieties, Dorota Pospíšilová.
Dunaj (named after european river Danube) is a very high-quality grape variety originating from a triple crossing of varieties (Muscat Bouchet x Oporto) x Saint Laurent. It is grown only in Slovakia and marginally in the Czech Republic. In Slovakia, it accounts for 0.024% of vineyards. The variety was recognized in 1997.
The goal of the breeder was to create a variety that, even during a shorter growing season, will be able to produce grapes with competitive parameters compared to foreign varieties.
The result is reflected in this wine with a harmonious and full taste providing fresh fruit notes of cherries, sour cherries and chocolate while preserving the varietal character of the grapes. Its taste often resembles character of southern wines.
It is especially suitable for desserts, and when fully ripe, also for game and dark meats. Best served at a temperature of 14-16°C.
Made only in a limited series of 1300 bottles.
