This limited edition Masskara is housed in a new gift tube and was designed by artists Onie Jackson and Guillaume Garrière, who have previously won the Don Papa French Contemporary Art Competition, part of the brand's acclaimed global art programme.
The gift tube is completely different from the brand's other artistic endeavours, being inspired by Cubism and street art. The artists wanted to capture the fauna and flora of Negros Island while incorporating musical instruments into the visuals in a unique style.
The rum is inspired by the story of Dionisio Magbuelas, who was known as "Don Papa". He used the best sugar cane in the world to create his famous line of products. It is a slightly fruity rum, positively appreciated by connoisseurs. Don Papa Masskara is distilled from molasses - known as 'black gold' - and then aged in American oak casks.
The rum is blended with a kettle brine of calamansi - Philippine lime and siling labuyo - Philippine chilli pepper and sweetened with regional honey.
