Nikka Nine Decades 90th Anniversary
This limited edition Nikka Nine Decades 90th Anniversary is a world blended whisky that includes whisky from nine decades, from the 1940s to 2020, distilled at six distilleries of Nikka, including the Ben Nevis distillery in Scotland.
Over 50 batches of whisky were selected, including the oldest malt reserve whisky Yoichi and Miyagikyo and the new grain whisky Moji and Satsumastukasa, which represent the heritage and future of Nikka, and their skilled blending brings it to perfection.
This whisky, bottled at 48% ABV, is not chill-filtered to best highlight its distinctive flavors and showcase its rich structure.
The bottle with the Nikka emblem is made using the Edo-bori cutting technique, which originated in Tokyo (originally named “Edo”) and is derived from Western sand cutting. This unique bottle shape was developed when Nikka launched the 40-year-old The Nikka for its 80th anniversary in 2014, representing Nikka's accumulated heritage.
The rich sweetness of apple pie and raisins with toasted maturation notes leads to a gentle smokiness and a nostalgic scent of antique furniture. Complex and layered aromas evoke the impression of standing in a warehouse where the whisky has peacefully slumbered.
Subtle oak with deep depth forms the flavor base, structuring spicy cinnamon, roasted nuts and rich dark chocolate. A delicate bitterness from the peat is balanced by sweet apricot jam and maple syrup, while the overall warmth evokes the feeling of sitting by a fireplace.
