A 10-year-old rum from the Don Papa range , inspired by the story of Papa Isiu, who played a major role in the Philippine Revolution of the late 19th century.
It is produced on the island of Negros Occidental in the Philippines and is said to evaporate the largest amount of alcohol in the world as the rum ages in the barrels.
Don Papa first released its 10-year-old rum at the end of 2014. It is a very thick rum that is made from molasses. It is then aged for an additional 10 years in American oak barrels where American whiskey was previously aged. All the aging is done in fired barrels, so you only get a hint of the influence from the previous aging.
Don Papa 10 Year Old harbours a rich aroma and flavour that is full of aromatic dark chocolate combined with charred oak and juicy raisins.
The pleasant amber colour with a dense texture will immediately appeal to you. The rum has a typical sugar cane aroma that any rum fan will easily recognise. The flavour is strong, rich and has dried cherries, pineapple, nuts and cocoa. The finish is medium-long with a very pleasant sweet caramel aftertaste.
