Fill up your tasting glass and take your experience to the next level!
Introducing the second legendary edition of the Ardbeg Anthology collection. This rare Ardbeg, which matured for 14 years in a combination of aromatic Madeira casks and classic ex-bourbon casks, is inspired by the tale of the incredible unicorn from Islay.
One dark night after a celebration at the distillery, the sound of hooves echoed across the yard. Those who are not too keen on mythical tales will tell you it was Rory, the greedy Shetland pony from the distillery - known for his bad temper and devilish craving for sweet treats. Others believe there was something more to it.
The distillery staff set out to investigate. As they turned the corner, they saw a horse-like creature rearing against the full moon. However, a horn protruded from its head, creating a chilling silhouette. The next day, rumors spread about the sighting of Scotland's national animal... the unicorn.
Now, of course, the staff were bombarded with questions about the abandoned ice cream truck, Rory's unlocked gate, and the oddly shaped horn. But they know what they saw! Sure, a pony with greedy appetites is likely, but Islay is a mysterious place.
Like the myth itself, this whisky may seem sweet, but it hides a sinister and smoky undertone... don't underestimate it.
The Unicorn's Tale is unfiltered and has 46%.
The aroma of the whisky is rich, sweet, aromatic, and fruity, with baked banana bread and syrup-soaked sponge pudding filling the senses. Jam notes transition into a pronounced waft of burning cedar wood. After a drop of water, a bounty of tropical fruit is released. Eucalyptus oil mingles with gentle aromatic smoke.
On the palate, spicy notes of lime and sweet peaches emerge. An explosion of rich smoked fruit and baked bread transitions into antiseptic lozenges, creosote, and anise. Delicate barley malt combines with nutmeg and peat smoke.
